Christy Dubs, 71, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, April 1, 2024.

Christy was born May 9, 1952, in St. Louis.

As a child, she attended Holy Cross Catholic School and Cape Girardeau public schools, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1976 from Southeast Missouri State University. She loved working with children at Easter Seals, Cinnamon Bear and Cape Girardeau schools. Christy’s greatest joy was being Mom to Graham and Nanna to Lillianna, Rozalyn (her spitting image) and Aksel.

Christy was an experience! She had fun, and it was contagious. When she donned her racing gloves and sped up to 140 miles per hour in that yellow Firebird, family members were thrilled to be in the backseat. Then there was her brown Corvette she spent many hours in just “hitting the circuit". And what an animal lover! Her dogs, bird, critters and her beloved horse, Bourbon’s Zeppelin, all enjoyed life with Christy.

Survivors include her son, Graham (Stesha) Dubs; brothers, Daniel (Sally) Finch and Charles (Linda) Finch; sister, Jan Finch; nieces, Julie (Michael) Hughes, Tiffany Spencer, Emily Finch, Carrie (Leland) Woelk and Molly (Daniel) Yingling; nephews, Tom (Maria) Hampton, Charles Finch and Connor Finch; and many cousins.

Remember Christy by volunteering to help those in need, being kind to animals and by simply having fun.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southeast Missouri Pets (formerly Humane Society of Southeast Missouri) in Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the funeral home, with Dan Windeknecht officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service.
