Christena Pobst

ORAN, Mo. -- Christena Marie Pobst, 86, of Oran died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 25, 1918, at Oran, daughter of Joseph and Mary Gosche Hahn. She and Louis M. Pobst were married on April 22, 1941, and he died on Aug. 26, 2000.

Pobst was a member of Guardian Angel Church at Oran, the St. Ann Sodality, the Knights of Columbus K.C.'ettes and Oran Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons, Vernon and Andrew Pobst of Oran; five daughters, Barbara Freed of Advance, Mo., Sharon Phillips of Bowney, Calif., Brenda Swain of Chaffee, Mo., Glena Own of Richmond, Mo., and Mary Wright of St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Herber Hahn of Oran; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call today at 4 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. at the chapel, followed by a Knights of Columbus prayer service.

Funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church at 10 a.m. The Rev. John Harth will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
