JACKSON -- Christopher Lynn "Chris" Johnson, 21, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1996, in Oklahoma City. He was a paraplegic and was struck by an automobile while crossing a street in his wheelchair.
He was born Oct. 11, 1974, in Cape Girardeau, son of Richard Lynn and Judy Lynn Crites Johnson. He attended Jackson High School, recently received his GED, and was preparing to enter Oklahoma State University in January.
Johnson had been active in Boy Scouts and basketball in Jackson, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his mother of Jackson; maternal grandparents, Lindle and Juanita Crites of Cape Girardeau; and paternal grandmother, Kathleen Johnson of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by his father and paternal grandfather.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
