MCCLURE, Ill. -- Graveside service for Chester Lyman Palmer of McClure will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3838, National Guard 1140th Engineer Battalion and 135th Engineer Group.

There is no visitation.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.

Palmer, 72, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 1994, at Heartland Care Rehabilitation Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 12, 1922, in Batesville, Ark., son of Jesse O. and Ethel Link Palmer.

Palmer was a self-employed commercial fisherman 15 years.

Survivors include a son, Ivan Palmer of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Terry Fornkahl of McClure, Linda Hay of Cape Girardeau, Kathy Curd of Chaffee; two brothers, Jesse Palmer Jr. of Summerville, S.C., William Palmer of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Geraldine Perry of Baldwin Park, Calif.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
