COBDEN, Ill. -- Chester E. "Jack" Pearson, 80, of Cobden, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 1995, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Jan. 11, 1915, in Cobden, son of Roscoe and Millie Peterman Pearson. He and L. Mae Campbell were married Aug. 19, 1938, in Jackson.
Pearson retired as a salesman with JCPenney Co., and then worked as an assistant at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.
He was a charter member of the original Cobden Fire Department, and served on the Cobden School Board. He was a member of American Legion Post 259, member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Cobden.
Survivors include his wife, Mae; a daughter, Lewellyn Gregory of Florissant, Mo.; two sons, Dodd Pearson of Mission, Kan., Steven Pearson of Fairhope, Ala.; two sisters, Lettie Basler of Cobden, Margaret Zimmerman of Sesser, Ill.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Cobden, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery, with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 259.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, and at the church after 9 a.m. Monday.
