Chester A. Haman, 95, of 530 S. Pacific died Sunday, March 21, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1898 in Cape Girardeau, son of William and Adeline Bennett Haman. He was an insurance agent and broker for various companies in Cape Girardeau. In 1964, he opened a coin and stamp store in downtown Cape Girardeau, retiring from the business in 1987...

Chester A. Haman, 95, of 530 S. Pacific died Sunday, March 21, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Feb. 20, 1898 in Cape Girardeau, son of William and Adeline Bennett Haman.

He was an insurance agent and broker for various companies in Cape Girardeau. In 1964, he opened a coin and stamp store in downtown Cape Girardeau, retiring from the business in 1987.

He was married first to Edith Hendrickson.

He then married Lucille E. Ables on July 21, 1927. She died on May 20, 1973.

On Jan. 10, 1975, he married Amy Buster Heiple, who survives of the home.

He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau.

He also was a member of the Fort D Senior Citizens Group and the New Life Senior Citizens Group.

Survivors, besides his wife, are three sons, James G., Leslie (Bill), and Charles T. Haman, all of Cape Girardeau; one stepson, Charles F. Mills of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Edith Rae Haman, Maplewood; one sister, Edith Heath of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; three step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.

Two sisters and one great-grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel with the Rev. James Caughlan and the Rev. Kendal Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4-8 p.m.
