CHARLESTON -- Charlie Riggens, 71, ofCharleston died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at Bertrand Nursing Facility.

He was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Blytheville, Ark., son of Orange and Louella Neal Riggens.

Riggens had lived in Missouri since 1932.

Survivors include nine sons, Charles Riggens of Hinesville, Ga., Donell, Finney, George and Lewis Riggens of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Robert, Ronnie and Ardest Riggens of Charleston, Dewayne Riggens of Chicago; four daughters, Gloria Howard of Chicago, Shirley Howard of Ft. Wayne, Pat Webb of Cairo, Ill., and Barbara Cleaves of Charleston.

He is also survived by a brother, Samuel Riggens of Charleston; four sisters, Mabel Horton of Haynes, Fla., Rosie Johnson of Mounds, Ill., Ivory Kent of Wilson City, Mary Riggens of Charleston; 42 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.L. Posey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Sparks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
