Charley "Frank" Wren, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born March 28, 1920, at Bell City, Mo., son of Louis and Minnie Wren. He first married Gladys Morgan Oct. 4, 1940, in New Madrid County. She died Dec. 21, 1960. He and Edna Dabbs were married Dec. 14, 1966, in Cape Girardeau.
Wren moved to Cape Girardeau in 1961. He had been a meatcutter at Fischer's Market, Central Foods and Fruitland Dressed Meat, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, the Rev. Winferd Wren and Charley Wren Jr. of Cape Girardeau, John Wren of Tallahassee, Fla., David Dabbs of Jackson, Bobby Dabbs of Louisiana; three daughters, Mary Schumacher of Des Moines, Iowa, Helen Matthews of Cape Girardeau, Eileen Edwards of Jackson; three sisters, Pauline Harding of Malden, Mo., Mary Merritt and Louise Deason of Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dan Brown and Winferd Wren officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
