Charley Jacob Sitzes, 82, of Jackson died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Bessville, Missouri, to Charley and Lillian Rhodes Sitzes.
He and Evelyn Lavon Wilson Sitzes were married March 31, 1957, at Litchfield, Illinois.
Charley served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Plainview Methodist Church.
Charley was a truck driver for more than 30 years, most of which he drove over the road for ABF before retiring in 1985.
He loved hunting, especially deer and turkey. He also loved farm life, with gardening and raising cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wilson Sitzes of Jackson; two sons, Rodney (Debbi) Sitzes of Cape Girardeau and Gary (Ann) Sitzes of Fruitland; two daughters, Judy (Doug) Watson and Janet (Randy) Crites of Jackson; a brother, Carl Sitzes of Marble Hill, Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy Hanners of Jackson and Arpha Slinkard of Fredericktown, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
