Charles Wilson

Charles O. Wilson, 70, of Oak Ridge passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 27, 1940, in Oak Ridge, son of Thomas Edward and Ruby Stearns Wilson. He married Loretta Volz Feb. 14, 1959, in Oak Ridge.

Charles attended Oak Ridge High School. He was a former member of Millersville Methodist Church, Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and since 1972 had been a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacons, and as a Sunday school teacher since the age of 18.

He had worked for Drury Tile and Plaster, the former Brown's Shoe Co., and in 1973 he started Wilson's Auto Body and Wilson's Auto Sales in Oak Ridge.

Loving survivors include his wife Loretta of 51 years; a son, Elden (Kim) Wilson of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Tina (Michael) Blechle of Oak Ridge, Mary (Kenny) Stearns of Millersville; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with his sixth great-grandchild expected any day; a sister, Nancy A. Friese of Pocahontas; and a brother, Tom Wilson of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cathy Wilson; and a sister, Gladys Parson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, with the Rev. Bill Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in Caney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery near Millersville.
