Charles W. "Bill" Latham, 81, of 1437 N. Water, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 14, 1912, at Cape Girardeau, son of George and Rhoda V. Johnson Latham.
He married Naomi Markert, March 15, 1932, at Jonesboro, Ill.
Latham attended Cape Central High School, where he was captain of the football team.
He worked for the Miles Packing Co. of Cape Girardeau, then worked for Erlbacher Bros. Foundry and Machinery, Missouri Utilities and retired from the Missouri Dry Dock Co., after 35 years of employment.
He was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marilyn Jo Ervin and Dorothy Jean Matthews, both of Cape Girardeau, Beverly Ann Lynxwiler of Sikeston; two sisters, Virginia McFerron of Cape Girardeau, Mamie Whitlock of St. Louis; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandchild.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Berry and the Rev. S.S. Borum officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
