ORAN, Mo. -- Charles Urhahn, son of the late Mike and Caroline Vogel Urhahn, was born Jan. 2, 1938, in Chaffee, Missouri, and departed this life Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at his home in Oran at the age of 83 years.

On Aug. 27, 1960, he married the love of his life, Kay Francis Scheeter, in Oran. She survives of the home.

Charles was a graduate of Oran High School in 1956, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and retired from Ameren Missouri Electric. He was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus in Oran, serving as past Grand Knight and financial secretary. He was a 52-year member of Chaffee Elks Lodge No. 1810 and Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oran.

He was on the Oran Board of Education and served as board president. He was a member of the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Hall of Fame and enjoyed playing weekly Bingo with wife and going to the casino. Charles had a passion for collecting Hot Wheels, woodworking and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. He coached Little League baseball, played fast-pitch softball several years, loved attending Oran High School sporting activities to watch his grandkids, and had a passion for yelling at the officials!

Besides his wife, survivors include three sons, Eric (Sherry) Urhahn of Oran, Derek (Kelly) Urhahn of Dexter, Missouri, and Kerwin Urhahn of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jodi (Ryan) Martin, Nolan (Hannah) Urhahn, Myles Urhahn and Macy Urhahn; four great-grandchildren, Murphy Martin, Sevie Martin, Paxton Urhahn and Dani Urhahn; other relatives and many friends. The family extends a big "thank you" to all the caregivers who took care of Charles over the last two years.

Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Arnold and George Urhahn; and two sisters, Deloris LeGrand and Bernice Burton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. An Elks service will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus.

Eucharistic celebration will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oran with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment with full military services will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Guardian Angel Church Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
