Charles Frederick Thrower Jr., 72, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 28, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 22, 1948, in Advance, Missouri, to Charles F. and Rose Marie Spears Thrower Sr. He and Judith Ann Murphy were married July 3, 1976, in Dexter, Missouri.
He served in the Army as a sergeant during the Vietnam War, receiving numerous awards.
He received disability retirement in 2013 from Southeast Missouri State University Power Plant after 22 years.
He was a life member of VFW Post 3838 and served on the local, state and national levels.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann Thrower of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Jon M. (Karen Lawrence) Thrower of Lexington, Kentucky, and Charles F. "Trae" (Scarly) Thrower III of Jackson; two grandchildren, Mason C. Thrower and Madison C. Thrower; two sisters, Theresa "Terrie" (Hal) McCarter of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Tamela "Tammi" (Jack) Pettet of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and four brothers, Anthony L. "Tony" (Teresa) Thrower of Jackson, Timothy Z. (Karen) Thrower of Jackson, Tyrone N. "Ty" (MaeAnn) Thrower of Advance, and Tyler D. (Debbie) Thrower of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas H. Thrower.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Bill McDonald officiating. He will be buried with full military honors.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at VFW Post 3838.
