SIKESTON -- Charles Dale Rister, 72, of Searcy, Ark., died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy.
He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Blodgett, son of Earnie and Edna Moore Rister. He and Maxine Mangum were married Feb. 12, 1949, in Arkansas.
Rister was a graduate of Blodgett High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then farmed with his family, and later was road superintendent for Imperial County Road Department in El Centro, Calif.
He retired in 1981 and moved to Searcy. Rister was a member of New Savannah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vickey Metzler of Pacifica, Calif.; four sisters, Margaret McPherson of Benton, Betty Compas of Alton, Ill., Glenda Evans and Brenda Jones of Sikeston; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Merritt officiating. Burial will be in Blodgett Cemetery.
