MINER, Mo. -- Charles Franklin Powell, 88, of Miner died Friday, March 19, 2004 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Greenfield, Ill., son of Harden and Martha Wood Powell. He and Beulah Tisdel were married Sept. 12, 1947, at Bethalto, Ill. She died Sept. 3, 1990.
Powell was employed by Amoco Oil Company and was a member of American Legion Post 114.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Survivors include a son, Kelley Powell of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Koch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
