PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Charles L. Parnell, 78, of Perryville died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.
He was born July 6, 1933, in Steele, Mo., son of Claude C. and Ida B. Webb Parnell. He first married Carol Jean Carlock on Jan. 3, 1957. She preceded him in death Oct. 6, 1986. He then married Mary Vivian Lucier on June 4, 1988. She survives in Perryville.
Charles Parnell was a steelworker for Granite City Steel. He was a member of Perryville Eagles and former member of local 3663 Granite City.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry (Pat) Parnell of Caseyville, Ill., Chuck Parnell of Murphysboro, Ill., John Parnell of Mulkeytown, Ill., Robert Stone of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Pamela (Tracy) Lafuria of Highland, Ill., Carla Trione of Perryville; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a son, Terry Parnell; two brothers, John and William Parnell; a sister, Claudean Stephan; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Jean Parnell.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. and the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
