SIKESTON, Mo. -- Charles Edward Meeks, 71, of Sikeston died Tuesday, March 10, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born April 22, 1933 in Bertrand, Mo., son to George Franklin and Retta Lorene Eastwood Meeks. On Jan. 14, 1954, in Warrington England, he married Winifred Alcock. She died April 27, 2003.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Charleston, Mo.
Survivors include one son, Charles F. Meeks of Mary Esther, Fla.; three daughters, Rachel Shoffner of San Antonio, Texas, Lora Rushing of Wappapello, Mo., Marjorie Wheeler of the Azore Islands; three brothers, the Rev. Bill Meeks of Bertrand, Robert Gene Meeks of Charleston, Donald Meeks of Billingsley, Ala.; five sisters, Deloris Spitler of Bertrand, Judy Skinner of Sikeston, Mary Allen of East Prairie, Mo., Jan Pleasant of Knoxville, Tenn., Mae McClain of Charleston; 10 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.
Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Bill Meeks officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park cemetery in Sikeston.
