CANALOU -- Charles D. McConnaughhay, 71, of Gladewater, Texas, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Canalou, son of Henry A. and Grace Hinkle McConnaughhay. He married the former Lorene Sullivan. McConnaughhay retired from East Texas Motor Freight in 1982. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II...

CANALOU -- Charles D. McConnaughhay, 71, of Gladewater, Texas, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at his home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Canalou, son of Henry A. and Grace Hinkle McConnaughhay. He married the former Lorene Sullivan.

McConnaughhay retired from East Texas Motor Freight in 1982. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles McConnaughhay Jr. of Longview, Texas, Ben McConnaughhay of Pittsburg, Texas; a daughter, Geraldine Stovall of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Noveda Willis of Waco, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Essex Cemetery in Essex.

Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
