JACKSON -- Funeral service for Charles F. "Snookie" LaPierre of Jackson will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. Grant Gillard will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to service time.
LaPierre, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 12, 1913, at Delta, son of Wilson and Carrie Don Norman LaPierre. He and Barbara Unger were married June 28, 1941.
LaPierre attended Southeast Missouri State University. He was a member of the university Boosters and Copper Dome Society, and served as an official timekeeper for the basketball program in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
He was employed by Missouri Division of Employment 40 years, retiring in 1978 as district supervisor. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Darryl and Bruce LaPierre of Jackson; a daughter, Sandy Whitledge of Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Jill Spivey of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
