Charles Junior King, 89, of Delta died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau. Born Dec. 22, 1929, in Leemon, he was the son of Floy Ellis and Zona Agnes Hodge King. Charles Junior King, 89, of Delta died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

Born Dec. 22, 1929, in Leemon, he was the son of Floy Ellis and Zona Agnes Hodge King. He graduated from Delta High School and was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951, serving in the Korean War.

He married Mary Lou Cobb in 1963. She predeceased him in death Oct. 6, 2013.

Charles worked for Florsheim Shoe most of his life, along with operating a farm in the Delta area. He served 12 years on the Delta School Board, was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church and its Men's Club, and the American Legion.

He is survived by a daughter, Lori (Greg) Williamson; stepson, Eddie (Yvonne) Rhodes; stepdaughter, Cathy Wright; sisters, Donna Yarbro and Kathern Anthony; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitewater United Methodist Church.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in New Trace Creek Cemetery near Glen Allen, Missouri.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
