DELTA -- Charles J. Rhodes, 80, of Delta, died Wednesday, March 4, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Oct. 25, 1911, at Whitewater, son of Martin and Effie Huckstep Rhodes. He and Floy Overbey were married Jan. 1, 1980, at Delta. Rhodes was a lifelong resident of the Delta/Whitewater area. He had worked for Frisco Railroad, had been a self-employed farmer, and had been a construction worker. He was a member of First Baptist Church here...

DELTA -- Charles J. Rhodes, 80, of Delta, died Wednesday, March 4, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 25, 1911, at Whitewater, son of Martin and Effie Huckstep Rhodes. He and Floy Overbey were married Jan. 1, 1980, at Delta.

Rhodes was a lifelong resident of the Delta/Whitewater area. He had worked for Frisco Railroad, had been a self-employed farmer, and had been a construction worker. He was a member of First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Arthur Rhodes of Delta; a daughter, Shirley Erlbacher of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Strong of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Rosella Kaempfer and Rosemary Enderle of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Glen Golden will officiate, with burial in Stroderville Cemetery near Whitewater.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today, and Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.
