JONESBORO, Ill. -- Charles H. Huffman, 73, of Jonesboro, formerly of Kankakee, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 1, 1934, at Oran, Mo., son of Vester "Bud" and Sadie Thomas Huffman. He and Barbara Jean Zimmerman were married Dec. 5, 1952. She died Sept. 28, 2002.
Huffman was a roofer for over 57 years. He was a member of the Chicago Roofers Union No. 11 for 57 years. He loved to hunt and fish and loved helping other people.
Survivors include four daughters, Debra (Terry) Leathers of Bradley, Ill., Sondra (Richard) Bradford of Jonesboro, Glenda (David ) Hill of Kankakee, Ill., Beverly (Donald Leggans) Allen of Anna; three sons, Randy (Maureen) Huffman of Bourbannais, Ill., Richard (Lauri) Huffman of Bradley, Roger (Christine) Huffman of Chebanse, Ill.; two sisters, Carolyn (John) Schott of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Marilyn Oberman of Dutchtown, Mo.; a brother, Larry Huffman of Murphysboro; two sisters-in-law, Judy Hancock of Jonesboro, Glenda (Clarence) Schaffner of St. Charles, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Tara Sue Huffman in 1981; and two brothers; Robert and Jerry Huffman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, Ill., and from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee.
Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kankakee.
