Charles Joseph Grojean, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.

He was born July 6, 1933, in Chaffee to Anthony J. and Wilma Marie Fredrick Grojean. He and Betty J. McBride were married Dec. 27, 1952, in Chaffee.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked at Procter & Gamble for 23 years. Charles loved woodworking and to garden, but his passion was reading.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Grojean of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Pamela (Michael) Compass and Linda (Rick) Robinson, both of Cape Girardeau, and Anna (Tim) Bender and Annette (Steve) McCulley, both of Jackson; two sons, Mike Grojean of Gordonville and Andy Grojean of Cape Girardeau; his brother, Glen (Bessie) Grojean of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Dorothy (Don) McBride and Bonnie Amick, both of Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Roberta Grojean of Chaffee; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Grojean.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. The burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gordonville, with military rites conducted by the Missouri Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund, 176 County Road 226, Gordonville, MO 63701.
