SIKESTON -- Charles "Jack" Grimes, 61, of Sikeston died Friday, Dec. 15, 1995, at Phelps County Hospital in Rolla.
He was born Dec. 15, 1935, in St. Louis, son of Aquilla "Jack" Grimes, who survives, and the late Edith Winstead Grimes of Sikeston.
On June 1, 1957, he married Gladys Givens in Morehouse. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 1989. On Jan. 10, 1994, he married Carolyn Meadows in Benton. She survives.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and a traffic studies engineer with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He attended the University of Missouri in Rolla and later obtained a bachelor's degree in math and natural sciences from the University of the State of New York.
Survivors include a son, Charles Jack Grimes II of Benton; a daughter, Carole Jane Henry of New Madrid; a stepdaughter, Sally Grimes of Benton; his stepmother, Mary Grimes of Sikeston; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
