Charles Scott Grantham Jr., 62, 1803 Huntington, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at DePaul Health Center in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 27, 1936, at Clarksdale, Miss., the son of Charles and Katie Cooley Grantham.
He married Myrnita Buckner Jan. 20, 1957, in Marks, Miss.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He taught anthropology for 25 years at Southeast Missouri State University until his retirement. He was a member of Harold O. Grauel Lodge #672; Wilson Chapter #75, Past Illustrious Master of Cape Council #20 RSNM; Cape Girardeau Commandry #55, Scottish Rites, Cape Shrine Club, Cape Rock Chapter #60 of the Order of Eastern Star, Allied Masonic Degree, and the Knights York Court of Honor.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Cheryl Grantham of Germantown, Md., and Myrnita K. Smith of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Jock and James Grantham of Caruthersville and Walter Grantham of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with Masonic services at 7 p.m. by the Grauel Lodge. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Larry Gallamore officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
