Funeral service for Jerry Lee Owens, 51, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Cape Girardeau, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
The Rev. Johnny Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon on Monday until the time of the service.
He died in Detroit on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1951, at Caruthersville, Mo., the son of Minnie L. Owens Wilson of Blue Island, Ill., and the late Cleo Bates.
He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School. He was a former member of the Greater Dimension Church of God in Christ and the New Bethel Church.
Survivors include his mother; his ex-wife, Shirley Hull of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Jenisha Jennings of Detroit, and Tonya Hull, Tracy Hull and Kassondra Owens of Cape Girardeau; six sisters, Renee Jordan of Alton, Ill., Salena Wilson of Mattson, Ill., and Karen Jordan, Sonia Wilson, Cynthia Wilson and Anita Wilson, all of Blue Island; two brothers, Aaron Wilson Jr. and Carey Wilson of Blue Island; and nine grandchildren.
Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., is handling the arrangements.
