Charles Gerecke
Charles Louis Gerecke, 80, of Jackson died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 30, 1928, in Jackson, son of Louis and Frieda Ahrens Gerecke. He and Jean Marie Dylewski were married in April 1959. He later married Bobbi Thompson on July 5, 1990.
Gerecke was a sergeant with Jackson National Guard Troop E.
He was a truck driver. He was employed with Mayflower Trucking from 1959 to 1968, GEE Moving Co. from 1968 to 1971 and Steiferman Brothers from 1971 until retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carol Puckett of Hazelwood, Mo., Jeannie Denney of St. Peters, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Linda Thompson of Overland, Mo., Tammie Showmaker of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Dorothy Hansen of St. Louis, Betty Renne of Gordonville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with military honors to be conducted.
