DUDLEY -- Charles Edward Humphries, 65, of Dudley, died Friday, Jan. 1, 1993 at the Dexter Memorial Hospital.

He was born at Vina, Ala. on June 20, 1927, the son of Isom and Zelma Hammock Humphries.

He lived in Sikeston for many years where he was employed for 12 years with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety as a police officer.

He had lived in Dudley since 1972. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Poplar Bluff American Legion Post 153.

On Feb. 16, 1953 he married the former Christine Trout. She survived.

He is also survived by one daughter, Merry Hughes, Dudley; one son, Donald D. Humphries, Cape Girardeau; one brother, Billy Humphries, Cape Girardeau; one sister, Gertrude Centers, Red Bay, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

Graveside funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Dudley Cemetery with the Rev. Louis Launhardt of Cape Girardeau officiating. Burial will be in the Dudley Cemetery.

Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
