PUXICO -- Charles E. Mitchell, 87, of Puxico, formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, April 30, 1994, at the Doctor's Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born July 15, 1906, at Shelbyville, Ill., son of Edward S. and Ada V. Cox Mitchell.

He married Ollie Eason, Dec. 21, 1929.

Mitchell lived in the Open Lake and Poplar Bluff communities for 44 years. He lived in Rochester, Mich., for 15 years, and has resided in the Puxico area for the past 28 years.

He was a retired employee of the General Motors Corp. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Faye Whitener of Rochester, Mich., Doris Anstead of Traverse City, Mich., Wilma Hicks of Franklin, N.C., Joyce Van Curen of Ponca City, Okla., Mary E. Turcott of Carsonville, Mich., Donna Siler of Puxico; a sister, Marie Maddox of Puxico; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, with the Rev. Earl Withrow officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico.
