CHARLES E. CHILDERS

COBDEN, Ill. -- Charles E. Childers, 77, Cobden Route 2, died Sunday, April 24, 1994, at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1916, at Grand Tower, son of Edward and Sarah Ellis Childers. He and Lucille Kirkpatrick were married March 18, 1940, in Jackson, Mo.

Childers was a carpenter with Illinois Central Railroad 32 years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sue Hartline of Ware; two sons, Carl Childers of Cobden, John Childers of Murphysboro; a sister, Helen Trammel of Leavenworth, Kan.; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three children, four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cliff Waller officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
