Charles Wesley Dunn, 75, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 8, 1934, in Lutesville, Mo., son of Charlie E. and Minnie Jones Dunn. He and Joyce Ervin were married Jan. 28, 1957, in Marble Hill, Mo.

Charles was a 1952 graduate of the former Lutesville High School.

He was inducted into the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 20, 1953, serving two years in Japan during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged as master sergeant March 31, 1973, after 20 years of service.

Dunn worked at Lenco in Jackson from 1973 to 1984, and then worked for the Department of Natural Resources at Bollinger Mill from 1985 until his retirement in 1995. After retirement he worked for Hartle Rental in Jackson five years and owned and operated Charlie's Auto Hobby Shop in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife of 53 years; two sons, Charles W. (Eva) Dunn, and Dean Matthew (Dani) Dunn of Marble Hill; two daughters, Debbie (Gary) Smith of Jackson, Diane (Keith) Glaus of Whitewater; eight grandchildren, Charles A. and Daniel Dunn, Amanda (Dustin) Woods, Joshua and Jessica Roberts, Michael Smith, Ashley and Trever Glaus; and a great-grandchild, Brynlei Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Tina Smith and Aaron McKinney; and a half brother, Walter Dunn.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Interment will be in Baker Cemetery at Marble Hill, with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to Saint Francis Medical Center.
