ST. PETERS, Mo. -- Charles E. Daniels, 89, of St. Peters died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters.
He was born Feb. 4, 1931, near Parma, Missouri, to Orville E. and Pearl Annis Daniels. He and Mary K. Crader were married Dec. 1, 1951, at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Illmo.
He served three years in the Marine Corps during the Korean war.
He had previously lived in Cape Girardeau and Scott City. He was ordained as a deacon in 1971 at First Baptist Church in Scott City, where he also served as Sunday school superintendent and taught Sunday school for a number of years. After moving to Cape Girardeau, he became a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and most recently was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles.
He was a member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge No. 93 and was a past worthy patron of St. Mark's Chapter No. 167 Order of Eastern Star.
He was a mechanic for many years at Wiethop Truck Sales and at Commercial Transport, where he became the terminal manager in 1983. He retired from Commercial in 1995 and later resumed part-time employment with FMC Transport. He moved to St. Peters in 2001 and became a part-time employee of Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center as an on-site recruiter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. Daniels of St. Peters; daughters, Kathy (Steve) Plume of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Vickie (Chris) Braudis of St. Peters; grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Plume, Cynthia (Charlie) Bedgood, Jared (Sunni) Streiler, Daniel (Rachel) Plume, Jessica (Jeremy) Brinkmann, Kevin Braudis and Kelly Braudis; and great-grandchildren, Hudson and Declan Plume and Ella and Emmie Bedgood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Dudley officiating. Entombment, with full military honors, will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Parkinson Disease Association, American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.
