EAST PRAIRIE -- Charles E. Cummins, 72, of East Prairie died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born May 24, 1927, at East Prairie, son of Matthew W. and Amanda Cave Cummins. He and Zola Whittenberg Cummins were married July 4, 1949. She died May 1, 1999.
He lived in the St. Louis area most of his life and was employed as a foreman for General Motors before returning to East Prairie in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Overland Occidental Masonic Lodge.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason and was a member of the St. Louis Scottish Rite. Cummins served as a corporal in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Thelma Summers and Peggy Owens, both of East Prairie.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home at East Prairie. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by the Charleston Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. The Revs. George White and Larry Smith will officiate, with burial to follow at the Dogwood Cemetery.
