PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Charles E. Courtois Sr., 94, of Perryville died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Perry Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation in Perryville.

He was born May 5, 1919, in Perryville, son of Albert and Gertrude Elder Courtois. He and Shirley Agne were married April 29, 1943. She survives in Perryville.

Charles retired as a self-employed auto body technician. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, Mo., and VFW Post 4282 in Perryville.

Other survivors include seven children, Charles (Cassie) Courtois Jr. of Imperial, Mo., Carol O'Brien of Belleville, Ill., Charlene (Michael) Cox of St. James, Mo., Janine (Tom) Giles of Buena Vista, Colo., John (Lisa) Courtois of Dixon, Mo., Judith Courtois and Gregory (Michele) Courtois, all of Perryville; two brothers, Raymond (Jane) Courtois of Freeport, Fla., and Richard Courtois of Perryville; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and grandson, Travis Courtois.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville with parish wake at 5 p.m. and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

His body then will be taken to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno for Mass at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Milton Ryan CM officiating. Burial will be Wednesday in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Ladies of Charity.
