Charles Henry "Chick" Boyd, 75, of Cape Girardeau died 12:10 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Oct. 18, 1925, at East Prairie, Mo., son of Walker and Leona Milam Boyd.
He married Jane Likens Oct. 1, 1949, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was a past president of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees, the Jaycee Man of the Year, past president of the Exchange Club, and a member of the Eagles.
He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 18, 1944, to April 25, 1946. After serving in the Navy, he attended Southeast Missouri State University and graduated from Southern Illinois University. He had been part owner of B&W Transport and Cape GMC Pontiac where he served as president. He then purchased Tipton Ford in Caruthersville, Mo., and renamed it Boyd Brothers Ford and operated the business for 10 years. He then moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for the FBI for 10 years. He returned to Cape Girardeau in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Boyd of Cape Girardeau; a son, Dr. James Boyd of Town & Country, Mo.; a brother, Walker T. Boyd of Caruthersville; and three grandchildren, Adrienne Boyd, Christopher Boyd and Stephanie Boyd, all of Town & Country.
He preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph C. Boyd on Sept. 23, 1988, and a sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Anselm Williams will officiate.
Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
