SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Charles Edward Brand, 87, of Springfield died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, in Springfield. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Charles Edward Brand, 87, of Springfield died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, in Springfield.

He was born July 25, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, son of Louis Henry Edward and Helen Marguerite Litzelfelner Brand. He and Dorothy Elizabeth Wehrman were married Sept. 20, 1952, in Lockwood, Missouri.

Charles was retired from the railroad and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol, of Springfield; four sons and their wives, Karl and Colleen Brand of Missouri City, Texas, Paul and Connie Brand of Shawnee, Kansas, Fredrick and Shawn Brand and Curt and Alison Brand of Springfield; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Joseph Brand and Michelle and children Caroline, Jack and William of St. Peters, Missouri, Philip Brand and Kristina and daughter Hannah of Brooklyn, New York, Erica Brand of Shawnee, Laura French and husband Greg, Emily and Scott Brand, and Olivia, William, Emma and Thomas Brand of Springfield.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, with the Revs. William Marler and Nicholas Hagerman officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Lockwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1415 S. Holland Ave., Springfield, MO 65807.
