CAIRO, Ill. -- Charles B. Schaefer, 62, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1993, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz.

He was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Cairo, son of George and Nellie McElligott Schaefer. He married the former Carolyn Steinhouse.

Schaefer was a retired manager with Hallmark stores. He was a member of the Church of the Ascension Catholic Church in Fountain Hills.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Helen Bauerle of Cairo, and a brother, Maurice Schaefer of Owensboro, Ky.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jerome Fortenberry will officiate, with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Monday. The rosary will be recited at 8.
