McCLURE, Ill. Charles B. Mattingly, 72, of McClure, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1992, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1919, at Cloverport, Ky., son of Alton and Beulah Thurman Mattingly. He married the former Verna Nolan.
Mattingly was a deckhand on tow boats, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Helen McMahan of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Raymond Oxford will officiate, with burial in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
