Charles Utah Austin, 68, 815 N. Fountain, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, at Wentzville Doctors Hospital in Wentzville.

He was born Dec. 11, 1928, at Whitewater, son of John Leslie and Celeste Hazel Jauch Austin. His family moved to Cape Girardeau in 1943 from Allenville.

Austin worked at International Shoe Co. 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Lane Austin of Cape Girardeau, Buford Austin of Benton, Ark., John Austin of Warrenton; two sisters, Velma Wilson of Santa Maria, Calif., and Pauline Kenner of St. Louis.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brad Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
