Charles Keith (Buck) Archer Jr., 64, of Oak Ridge died Friday, April 28, 2017, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1952, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Charles Keith and Mattie Fern Franklin Archer Sr.

He and Vera Lynn Nelson were married Nov. 23, 2002.

Buck served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring as an E-8 Senior Master Sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he won numerous awards.

After his service to our country, Buck worked as a contractor for VBR in Turkey and later worked for the city of Cape Girardeau.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Archer of Oak Ridge; two sons, Nolan Scott (Kelly) Archer of Eatonville, Washington, and Kenneth (Leslie) Archer of Bend, Oregon; a stepson, Mark (Kristina) Johnson of Marquand, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Laurie Johnson of Sherman, Texas, and Leah (Joe) Bell of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Brian (Lia) Archer, and one sister, Deborah (Lamar) Shields, both of Louisiana; 13 grandchildren, Myah, Owen, Eddie, Sydney and Elsie Archer, Alexis, Mark Jr. and Luke Johnson, Cory, Jacob and Meegan Smock, Aubrey Johnson and Willie Jones; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Archer.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Cemetery in Lodi, Missouri, with the Rev. Carlos Jeffries officiating, followed by full military honors.
