DONGOLA, Ill. -- Charles L. "Whitey" Aden, 71, of Marion, Ill., died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

He was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Dongola, son of George and Irene Cooper Aden. He and Verna Ramage were married July 13, 1952.

Aden retired as a supervisor with CIPS. He was a member of IBEW Local 702, and was affiliated with Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was formerly of Dongola.

He served in the U.S. Navy and the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jeff and Shaun Aden of Dongola, Randy Aden of Anna, Ill., Paul Aden of Marion; two brothers, Allen Aden of Georgia, Dare Aden of Dongola; a sister, Leona Brown of Dongola; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a granddaughter, and a brother.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dale Barnhurst officiating. Burial will be in Meisenheimer Mount Olive Cemetery.
