Charlene Bell, daughter of the late Charles Graff and Ruby Jacobs Roe, was born Aug. 9, 1952, in Commerce and departed her life Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Chaffee Nursing Home in Chaffee at the age of 71.
She was a loving mother and homemaker throughout her adult life. She very proudly went to college during her later years, earning her degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She was a former social worker and was also previously employed at Diebold Orchards in Benton. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton and a former resident of Cape Girardeau.
On Nov. 7, 1980, she was united in marriage to Richard Jerry Bell. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 2020.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela (John) Mitchell of Brooklyn, New York, and Deborah (Robert) Bell of Cape Girardeau; two stepchildren, Brenda (Kevin) Walker of Puxico and Jerry (Marsha) Bell Jr. of Advance; two brothers, Bill LeGrand of Kelso and Jerry LeGrand of Jackson; four sisters, Charlotte Mosley of Greenwood, Indiana, Elaine Graff of Lexington, Kentucky, Cecelia Bradley of Jackson and Jackie Majoros of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Unity Baptist Church in Benton.
Funeral service will be at noon Monday, Jan. 8, at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
