BLOOMFIELD -- Funeral service for Chalmer Hampton of Bloomfield will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Harold Gass will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
Hampton, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 28, 1912, at Malden, son of Grant and Nannie Corder Hampton. He and Reba Cutler were married Dec. 10, 1931, in Piggott, Ark.
Formerly of the Frisco and Vinson areas, Hampton had lived at Bloomfield the past 23 years. He was a retired farmer, and member of Broadwater Church of the Brethren at Frisco.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Morris Hampton of Dexter; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
