PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Chalmer V. Blessing, 85, of Perryville died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Chalmer V. Blessing, 85, of Perryville died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

He was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Perry County, son of Joseph Henry and Mary Luvina Taylor Blessing. He and June Weibrecht were married Sept. 25, 1948, in Perryville.

Blessing was a farmer. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church at Brewer, Mo., and Holy Name Society.

He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Ronda Rowland, Norma Vernon and Marilyn Klein, all of Perryville, JoAnn Hanson of St. Mary, Mo., Susan Ponder of Oak Ridge, Jill Roth of Ste. Genevieve; three sons, Cletus Blessing of Blackstone, Va., Carl Blessing of Festus, Mo., Daniel Blessing of St. Charles, Mo.; four brothers, Joseph Blessing Jr. of Perryville, Conway Blessing of Affton, Mo., Ben Blessing of Omaha, Neb., Donald Blessing of Advance, Mo.; a sister, Irene Krieger of Jackson; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. The parish wake is at 7 tonight, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the Savior Church, with the Rev. Felipe Martinez officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 133.
