CELESTIA HAZEL

THEBES, Ill. -- Celestia R. Hazel, 83, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

She was born July 23, 1916, in Thebes, daughter of John and Ella Sowders Hazel. She and John Hazel were married Feb. 9, 1946. He died Sept. 19, 1986.

Hazel was a member of Ware Methodist Church and its WMUA.

Survivors include two sons, Archie Hazel of Jonesboro, Leslie Hazel of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Tess Hazel of DeSoto, Dorothy Dillow of Anna; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Prather officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
