BENTON, Mo. -- Celeste Amelia Scherer, 94, of Benton died Monday, May 3, 2004, at her home.
She was born Jan. 14, 1910, at Kelso, Mo., daughter of John and Louise Logel Enderle. She and Cletus Charles Scherer were married May 4, 1932, at Kelso. He died May 13, 1956.
Scherer was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church.
Survivors include six sons, Charles L. and Cletus Scherer of Benton, James Scherer of Nashville, Tenn., Thomas Scherer of Anniston, Mo., Harold Scherer of Midlothian, Texas, Daniel Scherer of Fairview, Texas; four daughters, Ruth Ann Cashion and Celeste Nenninger of Cape Girardeau, Clara Crider of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ann Stuckey of Benton; a sister, Mary Spalding of Benton; 46 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Benton from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Parish prayers will be at 6.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Denis, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
