Cecil G. "Pete" Starkey, 87, of Whitewater died Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at the home of his daughter.
He was born April 14, 1934, in Marquand, Missouri, to William H. Starkey and Lilly B. Mooney Starkey. He married Mamie M. Myer on Sept 30, 1950, in Piggott Arkansas. She passed away Feb. 26, 2002.
Pete farmed in the Whitewater area all his life.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda K. (Harold) Dodd of Cape Girardeau, Connie L. (Kenny) Thorne of Benton, Missouri, and Diana G. (Tom) Horn of Whitewater; two sons, Michael L. Starkey of Jackson and Mark S. "Steve" (Joan) Starkey of Whitewater; two sisters, Shirley I. Nabe of Jackson and Hazel A. Blank of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Carma D. Starkey on Oct. 23, 1978; and brother, James W. Starkey.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Gordonville.
