ADVANCE, Mo. -- Cecil Ray Nanney, 87, of Advance, formerly of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away May 15, 2016, at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Marble Hill, son of William and Alice Nations Nanney.
He and Violet R. McCormick were married Feb. 21, 1953, at Marble Hill.
Nanney had worked at road and bridge construction for Penzel Construction Company and was of the General Baptist faith.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army.
Survivors include three children he and his wife helped raise, Jason, Alex and Witney Hopkins; a brother, Bobby Nanney of Marble Hill; and sisters Thelma Nanney of Marble Hill and Louise Smith of Imperial, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Melvin, Lester, Vester, John, Lee, Alfred and an infant Troy; and sisters Ethel Shriner, Velma Cook, Stella Carmen and Nancy Dockins.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill, with full military honors.
