WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- L. Cecil Myers, 89, of Wolf Lake died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. He was born Nov. 15, 1907, in Alto Pass, son of Oliver and Cora Verble Myers. He and Doris Trainer were married Dec. 28, 1940. She died Dec. 26, 1991...

WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- L. Cecil Myers, 89, of Wolf Lake died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

He was born Nov. 15, 1907, in Alto Pass, son of Oliver and Cora Verble Myers. He and Doris Trainer were married Dec. 28, 1940. She died Dec. 26, 1991.

Myers received bachelor and master degrees from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He was a teacher in area schools more than 40 years, and later served as principal in the Wolf Lake, Tamms, Dongola, and Murphysboro school districts.

He was an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a son, George Myers of Wolf Lake; a brother, Harry Myers of Wolf Lake; a sister, Annie Trainer of Unionville, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and brother.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery at Grand Tower.
