JACKSON -- Funeral for Cecil E. Monteith of Jackson will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Revs. Gary Petty and Dean Heady will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Monteith, 93, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 29, 1905, in Percy, Ill., son of George and Genevieve Brewer Monteith. He and Henrietta Diebold were married Oct. 9, 1926, in St. Louis.

Monteith had worked in the Illinois coal mines, was a deliveryman with Pevely Dairy and worked at Small Arms Munitions in St. Louis. He worked at Lutheran Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis 20 years, retiring in 1973.

He moved to Jackson in 1979 from St. Charles. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Jackson and was a past board member.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Monteith of Burfordville; a daughter, Sharon Wolyniak of Monument, Colo.; a brother, Floyd Monteith of Anderson, Ind.; a stepsister, Edna Moore of Troy; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a great-step-granddaughter.
